I remember my first music festival 7107 IMF two years ago, that’s where I realized how different it was to watch multiple international and local artists live compared to just one or two artists. I’m glad that we finally had our second IMF here in the Philippines because it’s the closest we can get to having our very own Coachella.
I know it’s been a week already since Paradise but until now it hasn’t all sunk in. Kanye West was the main headline of the event. And it was also Kanye’s first time to perform his album ‘The Life of Pablo’ live. His performance was literally lit! Alongside with the other headliners Austin Mahone, Afrojack, Rudimental, and of course Wiz Khalifa. I can’t exactly explain how it all felt like but let me share y’all about my experience.Everyone was all like ‘uh huh, you know what it is!!!’Chaperoned my brother throughout the night. It was his first concert/music festival. East finally meets West! Among his songs from his latest album ‘The Life of Pablo’, Ye performed ‘Famous’.
“In the spirit of Nina Simone, in the spirit of real artists, this is the song that broke the writer’s block for me because it was something I wanted to say so bad that they told me I couldn’t say,” West explained. Later, he added: “You don’t know, it’s really overwhelming to me to perform that song for the first time and for y’all to react to it in that way.”
Afterwards he requested to perform his song again! How cool was that? And yes, that line from “Famous” got a huge crowd reaction indeed! Big thanks to Rappler for giving us keys to Paradise!! Will forever treasure this experience. Till next year’s Paradise IMF? 🙂
